Norfolk Festevents is honored to announce that the City of Norfolk was chosen by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) as one of the 2010 recipients of the inaugural “IFEA World Festival & Event City” award. This prestigious award was presented to Karen Scherberger, Executive Director of Norfolk Festevents, Ltd. on behalf of the City of Norfolk, during the 55th Annual IFEA Convention & Expo in St. Louis, Missouri on September 16, 2010.

The IFEA World Festival & Event City award was established as a way for the worldwide festivals and events industry to honor, acknowledge and support local municipalities for their special events and festivals globally. City celebrations, special events and festivals provide strong economic impact and stimulates community growth for the market in which they serve.  Presently, Norfolk Festevents produces over 300 days of event programming annually in Town Point Park, Ocean View Beach Park and other venues throughout the community.“It is a strong city and community partnership that enables our events and festivals to continually achieve the
highest standard and allow for future events to become a part our city’s landscape and quality of life”, stated Karen Scherberger, Executive Director for Norfolk Festevents Ltd.

The City of Norfolk was placed in a global region and population category of 100,000 – 500,000 in North America and judged by a panel of industry experts in the following areas.
• Community Overview
• Community Festival and Events
