By Cindy Clayton The Virginian-Pilot © August 5, 2010 PORTSMOUTH The city celebrated Coast Guard Day and kicked off its annual Coast Guard City celebration Wednesday morning with a ceremony at High Street Landing. The ceremony included an aircraft flyover, a band with singers, speakers and the Color Guard, according to the city’s website. The five-day celebration, which will include a concert by the Counting Crows, a bike tour and other events, continues through Sunday, according to the site. The city is the headquarters to the Coast Guard’s Atlantic Area and 5th District.
