Nauticus chalkboard will record notes to troops By Kate Wiltrout The Virginian-Pilot © September 21, 2011 In a world of text messages and Tweets, a Norfolk museum is offering the public a chance to write a message to military members on an old-fashioned medium: a chalkboard. On Friday, Nauticus will unveil a 24-foot-long chalkboard for passersby to write a note to troops. The tribute wall – along the riverfront deck next to the battleship Wisconsin – will stay in place until Nov. 23. It will be available daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The messages will be photographed and catalogued on the science and technology center’s website. On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Nauticus will display a photographic exhibit of tributes made on the wall. That event will be free to service members and their families.
