The sun sparkles over the river and the fountains as the lush sounds of the Virginia Symphony fill the air with music that proudly marks our nation's pride and patriotism. Overview of Events The early evening Symphony performance will embrace the solemn holiday with patriotic music that captures the spirit of Memorial Day. Under the direction of Grammy Award-winning Music Director JoAnn Falletta, The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will take guests on an unforgettable journey of joy and tribute. The program includes the iconic sounds of: * Raiders March from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan by John Williams * Victory at Sea by Richard Rodgers, * God Bless America by Irving Berlin, * Fanfare on Amazing Grace by Adolphus Hailstork * Buckaroo Holiday, Hoe Down and Stars and Stripes Forever by Aaron Copland * as well as an encore by John Philip Sousa The evening is sure to bring the audience to their feet, and to tears.
