Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
with LIVE Music by the Jesse Chong Band
in TowneBank Fountain Park

NORFOLK, VA (March 25, 2011) Join Festevents in celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Town Point Park, Thursday, May 5, 2011, at TowneBank Fountain Park on the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront
 
Come celebrate this Mexican holiday and enjoy the Mariachi band that will be on site during the event. Join in on the “Piñata Bash” that will be taking place at 5:45pm on the main stage, where participants will have a chance to win “Cinco de Limo” holiday gear, tickets to special events, and more. Feast on authentic foods, including taquitos and burritos, served up at Omar’s Fountain Café.  Themed specialty adult drinks, including margaritas and frosty beverages, will be available for purchase.  Guests will enjoy the spirit of Cinco De Mayo all night lo ng.
Returning this year to headline the evening’s festivities is the JESSE CHONG BAND! A local favorite and much sought after band in the Hampton Roads area, the 4 piece band covers a range of genres to include reggae, funk, bluegrass, and the blues. Their eclectic sound draws comparisons to artists such as Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Keller Williams. Prepare to sing and dance the night away as the Jesse Chong Band keeps everyone wanting more.
 
A portion of the beverage sales will benefit the Little Creek Lions Club. Known for working to end preventable blindness, Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters. By conducting service projects and raising funds, The Lions Club strive to help those in need - wherever the need exists: locally or throughout the world community.
 
Cinco De Mayo is the first event of a memorable May and promises to kick off a great month of events on the downtown Norfolk Waterfront! The festivities will begin at 5pm and go until 10pm, Thursday, May 5. Admission is FREE and open to the public.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Special Note: Lawn Chairs and blankets are welcome.
